Renters At Risk

North Coast Transition Society is a feminist non-profit organization that provides services and programs for men, women and children, including survivors of violence. The Society publicly addresses issues of violence, homelessness, poverty, addictions and social justice.

The Renters at Risk Program is focused on preventing homelessness by helping women, men and families in private market rentals remain housed. Services include disbursing rental subsidies, advocating on behalf of clients and providing referrals to other services.

RARP can provide subsidies based on need for the purpose of:

  • Paying a portion of rent
  • Damage deposits
  • Partial hydro/gas payments if a disconnection notice has been issued

To qualify, household income must be below limits set by BC Housing. Individuals must provide proof of income (bank statements) and other documents to confirm eligibility. RARP subsidies cannot be used for any costs unrelated to housing (food, clothing, telephone bill, etc.). All Cheques are made out to landlords or agencies receiving payment.
