Aboriginal Head Start Program

Our vision for the Iskut Valley Head Start Program is to provide our children with a healthy and safe environment to develop their social, mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. We are committed to providing the children with opportunities to learn our Tahltan Language, culture and traditions.

The goal of the Head Start Program is to enhance early childhood development, school readiness, and overall family health and wellness for preschool children (birth to six years old).

Head Start supports early-intervention strategies that provide children with opportunities to develop a positive sense of themselves, a desire for learning, and successes to build upon.

Our program recognizes and affirms that culture is a fundamental part of a child’s development as it takes into account the emotional, spiritual, physical and intellectual needs of its children.

Our program provides licensed childcare services including:

  • Multi-age childcare
  • Licensed group care (30 months – school age)
  • Licensed preschool
