David Almost holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree from Yorkville University. He is a registered clinical counsellor in good standing with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors since 2009. He has been providing client centred therapy to the residents of Northwestern BC since September 2011. David was selected to provide emotional support and counselling at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission forums in both Terrace and Vancouver for survivors of Indian Residential Schools. He has facilitated workshops in couple’s communication, anger management and addictions recovery. David has worked with a wide variety of clients battling with issues including: anxiety, depression, grief, interpersonal relationships, life transitions, personality disorders, substance abuse, trauma and other mental illnesses. He is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) for use with clients struggling with trauma and PTSD. David also utilizes Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Narrative Therapy and The Gottman Approach (for couples).
David’s office is located at 3212 Emerson St. in Terrace inside the Nourishing Life Wellness Clinic. He sees clients privately at a rate of $80/hr. (GST incl.) and accepts payment by cash or cheque. Clients are encouraged to check with their employers about access to Employee & Family Assistance Programs. David is affiliated with the following EFAP’s: Brown Crawshaw, Ceridian Lifeworks, Family Services EAP, Homewood Human Solutions, Optum, Shepell FGI and Walmsley. He has agreements with several First Nations bands and the Crime Victims Assistance Program. David has a satellite office at 334 City Centre in Kitimat inside Pace Yourself Fitness & Wellness. The office hours in Terrace are Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9am to 5pm. The office in Kitimat is open on Tuesdays from 9am to 4pm. David offers evening appointments on Wednesdays from 5pm to 7pm.
