Strengthening Families Together
SFT is a 6 week program for the families, friends, and caregivers of individuals living with any mental illness. A diagnosis is not required. The course, provided by two trained family peer facilitators, offers:
• reliable information on the major mental illnesses and treatments
• information about local support services
• information about the mental health and criminal justice systems
• information about income and housing supports
• support and tools for maximizing self-care
• empathy building exercises
• communication tools
• an opportunity for families to share experiences, challenges, and strengths with one another in a safe, supportive environment
