Patient Travel Assistance
The Patient Transportation program provides supplementary benefits intended to ensure that eligible clients have access to medically-required services. It is not intended to cover all costs that may be associated with a client’s medical condition and travel requirements.
Also provides client transportation to addictions services once the client is accepted for funding to a recovery, addictions, or healing centre. Provided by the Non-Insured Health Benefits Program (NIHB). Gitxsan Health Society works with First Nations Health and Inuit Branch in assisting Gitxsan members.
Program does not cover some services, including orthodontic, chiropractic, optometry, physiotherapy, prescription pick-up, psychological counselling, podiatry, dietician visits, nutritionist visits and compassionate travel.
