Services Provided
Provincial Disability
Help with the application from start to finish. If denied advocate will help with reconsideration and tribunals.
Income Security
Help with the Ministry of Social development and poverty reduction, Employment Insurance, Income tax referrals, Canada Pension Plan, Old Age Security, Guaranteed Income Supplement, Canada pension plan-disability and Safer applications.
Residential Tenancy
Help with issues including helping tenants with landlord mediations, dispute resolution applications and hearings.
Debt
Advocate will give referrals to debt counselling agencies.
Family Law
Advocate will give referrals to legal information only.
Child Protection
Advocate will give referrals to other community agencies only.
Other Services Provided
Informational Workshops
Advocate can provide workshops on Residential Tenancy rights and responsibilities, Disability applications, CPP, OAS, GIS Pension Applications.
Public Resources
Advocate provides Legal Services publications to surrounding agencies for client use. Some of the resources are Court House Libraries, Pov Net, Legal aid, Tenants Resource Advisory Center (TRAC), People’s Law School and many more
Systematic Issues
Working with other advocates to help resolves some systematic issues around the province using resources like Pov Net a web of many advocates who are signed in to an email resources system with access to many advocates and lawyers is the province, Tenants Resource Access Center (TRAC) Specialist in Residential tenancy, Public Interest Advocacy Center (BCPIAC) Lawyers who fight for Systematic issues in the province, Disability Alliance BC and organization who specializes in Disability applications and many more resources.
