School-Aged Health
Programs are provided in school and in the community. There are four main elements to school health services:
- The education component supports teachers in the provision of health education by providing information, educational resources, lesson plans and learning activities; providing educational sessions for specific target groups and parent advisory committees.
- The support services provide health screening and immunizations; nursing support planning services for children with special health needs, teacher, parent, student counselling on health related issues.
- The social support component helps to set up peer support programs, related to quitting smoking and injury reduction.
- The healthy environment program promotes having a safe environment and focuses on injury prevention.
